Our Story

Cobblestones & Grits began with a sewing machine that meant far more to me than just fabric and thread. My late mother-in-law gave me a brand new sewing machine, and two years after her passing, I finally opened it and decided to make a wreath sash for our front door. I had no idea at the time that one small project would bring so much joy to my life.

Creativity and homemaking have always been part of my story. I grew up watching my mother sew clothing, curtains, blankets, and table runners. Some of my favorite memories are tied to those little details that made a home feel warm, welcoming, and loved. Looking back now, an appreciation for beautiful meaningful pieces was planted in me long before this business ever existed.

After making a few wreath sashes, a friend and my husband encouraged me to post them on Facebook Marketplace. Two days later, I sold my very first sash. Soon after, customers began asking for custom embroidery, so I purchased my first embroidery machine. In November 2025, I nervously stepped into my very first market, and by February 2026, I had added a six-needle Brother embroidery machine as the business continued to grow. Today, I work with two embroidery machines alongside the original sewing machine from my mother-in-law that started it all.

I often say that I never expected to be doing this, but God clearly had a different plan for me. Cobblestones & Grits has become more than just embroidery and wreath sashes — it’s about creating heirloom-inspired pieces that make a house feel like home. And I’ll continue doing it for as long as God wants me to.

We work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.

Typical Turn-Around-Time ("TAT") is 7-10 business days.

Shipping is calculated based on order weight and destination.

To keep your Embroidered items looking fresh and bright, machine wash them on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use mild detergent and avoid bleach. Tumble dry low or air dry for best results. If needed, iron on low heat to smooth wrinkles.

Embroidery uses a paper “stabilizer” to support the fabric and ensure stitches are even and high end.

While we try our best to remove all traces of stabilizer, some very intricate designs are nearly impossible to remove every tiny bit. These pieces should disappear after a few washes, and will not impair or harm any washers or dryers.

Monograms are timeless, elegant, and a wonderful way to personalize your belongings — from cocktail napkins and stationery to clothing and gifts. But with so many styles to choose from, it can be tricky to know which monogram style fits your personality and purpose best.

Using the names Grace Caroline Williams and Christopher Ryan Williams as examples, we’ll show you how to create monograms that are timeless.

1. The Three-Letter Monogram
Traditionally, a three-letter monogram includes:
First initial (first name)
Last initial (larger, center position)
Middle initial
Example:
For Grace Caroline Williams, the monogram is:
G W C
Where W is the last initial and appears larger in the center.

Traditional Three-Letter Monogram looks best on:
-Cocktail Napkins
-Kitchen Towels
-Dinner Napkins
-Other home linens

2. The Man’s Monogram
Traditionally, the man’s monogram includes:

First initial (first name)
Last initial (center position)
Middle initial
All initials the same size

Example:
For Ryan Christopher Williams, the monogram is
RWC

3. Two-Letter Monogram
For a cleaner or simpler look, use just the first and last initials:
Example:
Grace Caroline Williams becomes “GW.”
Both letters equal size, side by side.

4. Single Initial Monogram
Sometimes, one initial is all you need — usually the last name initial for family items.
Example:
Williams:
W
Perfect for a subtle and elegant touch.

5. The Couple’s Monogram
Traditionally, a married monogram includes:
Wife’s first initial
Husband’s Last initial (larger, center position)
Husband’s last initial
Example:
For Grace and Ryan Williams, the monogram is:
G W R
Where W is the last initial and appears larger in the center.

The Couple’s Monogram looks best on:
-Cocktail Napkins
-Kitchen Towels
-Dinner Napkins
-Other home linens

Cobblestones & Grits will keep monograms proportionate to the item unless specified in a design or specified by the customer.
This means most monograms are typically between 2” and 4” in height.
