Our Story

Before Cobblestones & Grits ever became a business, it began as part of my story.

My late mother-in-law gave me a sewing machine that sat unopened for nearly two years after her passing. One day, I decided to open the box and make a wreath sash for our front door. What I thought would be a simple project became the beginning of something far more meaningful.

The love of creating a welcoming home was woven into my life long before that moment. I grew up watching my mother sew clothing, curtains, blankets, and table linens. Some of my favorite memories are tied to those thoughtful details that made a house feel warm, inviting, and loved. Looking back, I realize those early experiences quietly shaped an appreciation for the pieces that help tell a family’s story.

After making a few wreath sashes, a friend and my husband encouraged me to list them on Facebook Marketplace. Two days later, I sold my very first sash. Soon customers began requesting custom embroidery, and what started as a creative outlet quickly grew into something more. I purchased my first embroidery machine, stepped into my first market in November 2025, and by February 2026 added a six-needle embroidery machine as the business continued to grow.

Today, I work with two embroidery machines and the very sewing machine that started it all—a daily reminder of where this journey began.

I often say I never expected to be doing this, but God clearly had a different plan. What began with a single wreath sash has grown into a collection of heirloom-inspired pieces designed to celebrate life’s meaningful moments. From front doors and family gatherings to weddings and cherished traditions, every piece is created with the hope that it becomes part of someone’s story.

Because at Cobblestones & Grits, we believe the most beautiful things aren’t simply made—they’re remembered, shared, and passed down.
